Leiston host Banbury United this weekend trying to end their winless run. Christy Finch and Harry Knights will come back into the squad along with Charlie Beckwith who returns as cover for Marcus Garnham from Great Yarmouth Town. Harrison Bacon is making good progress with his injury but will not make this weekend’s match, while Patrick Brothers remains out also. Noel Aitkens is suspended for his final game after getting sent off against Kettering Town a couple of weeks ago. Leiston are currently 16th in the league table, behind Banbury on goal difference in 15th.
Leiston lost 1-0 at The Banbury Plant Hire Stadium in their third league match of the season, going down to a 66th minute Ricky Johnson goal. The visitors have won their last two matches against King’s Lynn Town and St Neots Town respectively, but lost three matches before that.
Banbury United were first formed in 1931 and were then called Spencer Sports Club. They turned professional in the 1947-48 season and reached the First Round Proper of the FA Cup for the first time, losing to Colchester United 2-1. They changed their name to Banbury United in 1965. They have reached the FA Cup First Round on four occasions in their history while they have got to the Last 16 of the FA Trophy twice before in 1970-71 and 1973-74.
