Blues travel to Buckinghamshire to face ‘The Rams’

The Blues head to Beaconsfield Town tomorrow looking to progress to the FA Trophy First Round for just the third time in their history.
The first time they made the First Round, they recieved a bye in the Third Qualifying Round (only team to do so that year) and in 2016, they defeated Eastbourne Borough 5-3 on penalties in a Replay after drawing 2-2 after extra time thanks to goals from Matt Blake and Gareth Heath. The first game at Victory Road ended 1-1, with Jack Ainsley’s 90th minute penalty keeping the Blues in the competition. Leiston gained a point at Hitchin Town on Wednesday evening and moved up to fourth place in the league.

Beaconsfield are having a good season in the Evo-Stik Southern Premier South Division. (The same level as Leiston). They are currently 7th but have the same amount of points as Leiston (24 points in 15 games). They had lost just 1 game in 13 matches, before last Saturday. Since then, they lost 6-2 at home to Farnborough last weekend and drew 2-2 at Hendon on Tuesday night.

The team play at Holloways Park and won their respective Step 4 league last season (they won the Southern League Division One East) to become a step 3 side. This is the furthest they have ever been in the FA Trophy. The club was established as Beaconsfield SYCOB in 1994, as it merged with Beaconsfield United.

If tomorrow’s match ends in a draw after 90 minutes, then there will be a Replay at Victory Road on Tuesday evening.
