Blues head to Biggleswade for midweek action

Game 31/42.

Leiston head to Biggleswade Town on Tuesday night as the games start to come thick and fast. Leiston were undone by a good second half showing from Stourbridge on Saturday as they dropped to 13th in the table.

Stuart Boardley will be without Josh Hitter (broken toe) for the clash while Matt Blake is a doubt through illness and Byron Lawrence is unavailable. Mason Sinclair, who has impressed for the Reserves in his 4 games to date, will come into the squad while Joe Potter will come in again to cover for Marcus Garnham. Patrick Brothers is close to gaining full fitness and will hopefully be involved for Saturday’s match at home to Bedworth United.

Biggleswade start the match in 8th place, three points off the play-offs. They were defeated 4-1 at home to Royston Town on Saturday and have lost 3 of their last 4 matches. Earlier in the season, Leiston won 3-0 at Victory Road in November as the Blues inflicted a first defeat on Biggleswade in the league. Jake Reed netted twice while Matt Blake also got on the scoresheet.

A decent result would help Leiston take some confidence into 3 home matches on the bounce against Bedworth United, St Ives Town and Stratford Town, while sandwiched in between is the semi-final of the Suffolk Premier Cup against Ipswich Town.
