Preview - The Blues face a brace of home fixtures against Essex sides over the next few days starting with the visit of Billericay Town on Saturday, kick off 3pm before Canvey Island visit Victory Road on Tuesday evening. Leiston have begun the new calendar year in scintillating form, following up their thumping 5-1 win over Needham Market with a 6-0 pounding of Burgess Hill Town last Saturday. Manager Glenn Driver has been very pleased with the recent wins, "Our last two games have seen us play some great attacking football and we caused both Needham Market and Burgess Hill Town all sorts of problems" said Driver. "We have also defended very well and scored goals freely but more importantly, we have passed the ball well so it's been very pleasing."

Saturday's opponents Billericay Town have been very active in the transfer market re-building an almost new side with players from higher Leagues including Chris Assombalonga (Dagenham & Redbridge), Issac Layne (Alloa Athletic) & Rob Swaine (Bromley) to name but three in the past week and Billericay have made their intentions clear that they want a swift return to the National League South, a League they departed in 2013. But Glenn Driver is only interested in his side, "Billericay come to us with a new owner and you can see from there recent signings that they mean business" said Driver. "I don't get caught up in other clubs budgets and how they spend there money it's what we do that matters. I'm sure Craig (Edwards, Billericay Town Manager) will make more signings and when he gets a settled squad I'm sure it will calm down again. For us the recent stats shows we are having a good season and the most pleasing thing for me is that attendances are up by 53% at present and getting the extra people through the turnstiles has been my biggest achievement to date. Without the fans you have no club. The supporters have turned up in their numbers and I'm sure they have enjoyed what they have seen so far this season and we are trying to make them proud of the club and for them to have an enjoyable afternoon or evening watching quality football. Our players they have been fantastic, they stick together and they enjoy playing for Leiston. We have set ourselves targets which we will keep in house and go about our business and leave other clubs to go about there's. There are 23 league games left and I'm sure there will be a number of twists and turns before the end of April" said Driver. Leiston have a fully fit squad ahead of the game including Joe Francis who returns after missing four games following a trip to Australia.

Billericay Town come into the game on the back of a frustrating last minute penalty defeat at leaders Bognor Regis Town last Saturday, a win would have given the Essex side their fourth straight win in all competitions. The calibre of their recent signings suggests they can mount a serious challenge for the play offs as they sit just eleven points off fifth with 20 games remaining, 10 of those games against sides currently in the top seven places.

This will be the seventh League meeting between the sides and in last season's Easter Monday fixture the sides shared a 1-1 draw and two of the last three meetings at Victory Road have been draws with the Blues winning the other. However, the Essex side hold the upper hand at their New Lodge ground, winning all four of the games between the sides in all competitions.

Current League form;

Leiston - WWDLWL
Billericay Town - LWWLLD
