Blues striker Christy Finch departs Victory Road after four years with the club

Leiston striker Christy Finch has decided to leave after four seasons with the Blues. Finch signed in the Summer of 2015 for the Victory Road club and scored on his home debut against Kingstonian. At the end of the 2015/2016 season, Finch was the top scorer with 20 goals.

In the 2016/2017 season, Finch went on loan for over half a season at Norwich United before being recalled. He was joint top scorer with 18 last season along with Jack Ainsley, before hitting the back of the net 14 times this season. Finch made 128 league appearances for Leiston, scoring 37 goals. Overall, he played 167 games scoring 59 goals.

Speaking to the Blues Online earlier today, Finch said: - ‘I’d firstly like to start off thanking Leiston for giving me the opportunity to play Step 3 football. It’s been an enjoyable 3 or 4 years at the club but I think the time is now right for myself to look for a challenge elsewhere. I’ll miss the lads as I’ve made some friends for life along the way. I wish Stuart and David (first team management) all the best for the future and also everyone at the club and I hope they can progress at that level. Trevor Harrison and young Chris Arnold deserve a mention as they do a lot behind the scenes and don’t get the credit they deserve at times.’

Christy finished: - ‘For myself personally, I think scoring two goals in the Suffolk Premier Cup final last season and setting up a goal at Portman Road ranks up there and of course winning it again this season was a good achievement also’.

Everyone at Leiston FC wishes Christy all the best in the future in his football career.
