Blues midfielder reaches two major landmarks

When his left wing corner sailed straight into the Needham Market goal on Bank Holiday Monday I would imagine Gareth Heath would have prefered a more cultured finish for his 100th League goal for the Blues. Since joining Leiston in the summer of 2010 Harwich based Heath has been a revelation in the heart of the Blues midfield, frequently topping the goal scoring charts at season ends and no doubt at some stage bathing in champagne for the amount of Man of the Match awards collected over the past six of so years. Gareth was an instrumental part of the side that won the Ridgeons Premier Division in 2010, reached the FA Vase Quarter Finals and FA Cup Fourth Qualifying Round the same season, the Ryman League Division One (North) at the first attempt in 2011 and has helped the club cement its position at step three in the Ryman Premier Division. Along the way he was also named twice in the Ryman League Team of the Year as named by fellow Managers.

Just before the Christmas festive fixtures Gareth rattled up his 250th League appearance and when his latest goal against Suffolk rivals Needham Market found the net it was 100 League goals in 254 League appearances, a tremendous ratio from midfield. Despite his 36 years Gareth still performs with the exuberance and energy of a man half his age so who knows what further landmarks he can now achieve.

Everyone at Victory Road would like to congratulate Gareth on these terrific landmarks and will be presenting Gareth with momentos for his achievements at a future game.
