Blues seal their first signing of pre season

Blues boss Glenn Driver has sealed his first pre season signing, capturing the much sought after Kyle Hammond. Earlier in the week Driver confirmed that both under 18 Harry Burman and Harry Lay-Fulcher had agreed deals but 21 year old Hammond is the first to put pen to paper on a year's deal with a year's option.

Former Ipswich Town Hammond starred at Ryman Division One North Maldon & Tiptree last season after originally spending time with the Essex side on loan from Portman Road the previous season. Ipswich based Hammond said, "I'm delighted to sign for Leiston and can't wait to get started. There were several clubs interested but I've made the right choice and look forward to helping the side to continue to challenge next season".

Comfortable at right back or right midfield Hammond played in every game of Maldon & Tiptree's League fixtures last season as they narrowly missed out on promotion, losing 1-0 to Thurrock in the play off final.

Manager Glenn Driver had the following to say, "I cannot hide my delight in the signing of Kyle, he is a player who suits the way I believe the game should be played. He is an attacking full back who loves to get forward and is very comfortable on the ball. He has an eye for goal and is a very good athlete. At 21 years old he has a massive future ahead of him and I'm sure he will become a fans favourite. I wish Kyle all the best and hope he enjoys his football here with us at Leiston FC."

On behalf of everyone at Leiston Football Club we wish Kyle a successful stay.
