Game 16/42.
A big game for both sides. AFC Rushden & Diamonds moved up to third place on Tuesday night after beating Halesowen Town 2-0 at home. Stuart Boardley will have Tom Bullard, Matt Rutterford, Patrick Brothers and Robert Eagle back in the squad, while new signing Ashley Nicholls will also be involved. However, Noel Aitkens (suspended) and Dominic Docherty (injured) will be missing. Leiston remain 5th, still in the final play-off place. This will be a first ever meeting between the two sides.

The original Rushden & Diamonds were formed in 1992. It took them just nine seasons to become a Football League club. However, the club hit hard times, and entered administration in July 2011.

AFC Rushden & Diamonds were created in 2011. As they were expelled from what was called at the time the Conference National (now National League), they entered the Northants Senior Youth League after not being able to register a Senior side. They started a Senior side in 2012-2013 and played in the United Counties Football League Division One. They have since progressed to Step 3 football after finishing behind Beaconsfield Town last season, meaning they have won 3 promotions in 6 seasons. They currently have 27 points from 17 league matches.

Before tomorrow’s match, Leiston will be having a minute’s silence in memory of Keith Cracknell who passed away on Monday.
