Match 29/42.

Leiston play their first home league match tomorrow for the first time in four weeks as Alvechurch visit Victory Road. After reaching the semi-finals of the Suffolk Premier Cup for the 8th year on the bounce and gaining a point at AFC Rushden & Diamonds last Saturday, the Blues will be looking forward to the match against a side who have progressed well in the last few years. Seb Dunbar completes his second match and final game suspension and Patrick Brothers is injured. However new signing Joe Potter will come straight into the first team squad while Tom Bullard should be fit again after missing last week’s match with a calf problem. Although the Blues gained a point on the road last weekend, they dropped a place to 11th in the league table. Before the match, Leiston will be presenting awards to Joe Jefford (400 club appearances) and Patrick Brothers (350 club appearances) on the pitch. Both players have been instrumental in Leiston’s fortunes over the past few years. After tomorrow’s match with Alvechurch, Leiston face two tough away trips to Stourbridge (2nd) and Biggleswade Town (8th).

Alvechurch have enjoyed a fantastic season and have taken 52 points from 29 matches in the league. They are on a run of 7 games unbeaten in the league, with their last taste of defeat coming on New Years Day away at Banbury United. This is the first ever meeting between the two sides. ‘The Church’ went out of the FA Cup the same stage as Leiston exited the competition in the Second Qualifying Round, going down to Corby Town 4-1 at their home ground Lye Meadow. They lost in the First Round Qualifying in the FA Trophy, going down 3-0 in a Replay to Stratford Town.
