Match Preview

Leiston play Melksham for the first time in heir history today as the team from Wiltshire visit for an FA Trophy clash. Melksham have progressed to this stage winning away matches at Slimbridge (3-2) and Thatcham Town (2-1). The Blues beat VCD Athletic in the last round 3-1, with Christy Finch (2) and Jake Reed on target.

This is the sixth time Leiston have reached the 2nd Qualifying Round, whilst it's just their eighth season in the competition. On Tuesday night, a young Blues team lost 1-0 at home to Lowestoft Town in the CSS League Cup. The Blues remain in 4th place in the league, with 23 points from their opening 13 league matches.

Melksham meanwhile, are 5th in the Evo-Stik Southern League Division One South. They have 17 points from 10 league matches so far. They also lost on Tuesday night in the League Cup (same competition as Leiston) going down 4-0 to Slimbridge at home. Melksham were founded in 1876, and helped start the Wiltshire league in 1894. They were runners-up in the Western League Premier Division last season, earning promotion to their current league.

If there is a draw today then there will be a Replay at Melksham Town (Oakfield Stadium) on Monday evening.
