Experienced goalkeeper Nick Eyre has joined the Blues

The club are delighted to announce the signing of goalkeeper Nick Eyre as boss Glenn Driver has made another significant signing as he looks to shape his side ahead of their fifth season in the Ryman Premier Division. Experienced goalkeeper Nick Eyre has penned a deal for next season at Victory Road. Former Ipswich Town Eyre arrives with a wealth of experience having represented England at Junior level and has also starred for Dagenham & Redbridge & Grays Athletic in the Conference Premier and most recently with Chelmsford City in the National League South. Manger Glenn Driver had this to say on his latest signing;

"The signing of Nick Eyre is a quality signing for us. We needed to sign someone with experience and Nick has a great pedigree and comes highly respected as a proven keeper at Conference level. With Ashlee (Jones) looking to play higher and hopefully getting involved with a professional club, a goalkeeper was top of my list. Nick shares our ambition and I'm sure he will prove to be a top signing for Leiston FC."

The Blues are also announcing the return of ex Cambridge United, Newport County & Torquay United goalkeeper Danny Potter to the club who played in their opening season in the Ryman Premier Division in 2012. Danny arrives as goalkeeping coach something that Eyre was keen to stress that played a part in his decision to join. "I'm delighted to have signed for the club" said Eyre. "I was keen to get back involved again and having spoke to Glenn (Driver), Tony (Kinsella) and Trevor (Elmy) I am sure that this is a challenge I have needed for most of my career, a well run club with honest and hardworking players. Having a coach of the calibre of Danny Potter made the decision even easier and I'm really excited to get started with a group who, by the sounds of things, are fully together and ready for a great season."

On behalf of Leiston Football Club we wish Nick the very best of luck and hope both parties enjoy success.
