A look back to recent fixtures on this day in the Blues history

In recent history, the Blues have never been beaten on 28th October, a date which is one of the most famous in the Blues history. Ten years ago on this very day the Blues, then members of the Ridgeons (Eastern Counties) Premier Division (Step Five) travelled to Conference Premier Division Lewes (Step One) for an FA Cup Fourth Qualifying Round replay. The sides had drawn 1-1 at Victory Road just three days earlier but nobody expected what was to follow in Sussex. Roared on by around 100 travelling fans the Blues stunned their higher ranked opponents racing into a two goal interval lead thanks to goals from Stuart Boardley and Luke Eagle. When Boardley unleashed an unstoppable third goal the visitors were in dream land and despite a late Lewes goal, the Suffolk side celebrated into the early hours as they reached the FA Cup First Round for the first time in their history. The Blues were beaten 2-0 in the First Round by Conference North Fleetwood Town after a replay, this after the sides had drawn 0-0 at Victory Road. This was also the last time a side playing at Step Five has reached the FA Cup First Round after starting at the Extra Preliminary Round stage.

Stuart Boardley was also on target on this day in 2006, opening the scoring as the Blues won 2-0 at Wroxham in the Ridgeons (Eastern Counties) Premier Division. Tom Childs sealed the win in front of 225 at Trafford Park.

Eight years later and the Blues defeated Grays Athletic at Victory Road in their third season in the Ryman (Isthmian) Premier Division. Gareth Heath netted a brace with Craig Parker the other as the Blues won 3-0 on Tuesday evening in front of 190 at Victory Road.

In 2015 the Blues were held 1-1 in a midweek (Wednesday) fixture in the Ryman (Isthmian) Premier Division at Victory Road by Canvey Island. Canvey Island's Glenn Poole cancelling out Billy Clark's second minute opener for the Blues in front of 225.

The most recent fixture on this day was last season when the Blues were held 1-1 at Victory Road in the FA Trophy First Qualifying Round against Folkestone Invicta. Matt Blake's second half equaliser, after Ian Draycott had given the visitors the lead, earned the Blues a replay in front of 191 at Victory Road. The Blues won the replay three days later in Kent on penalties but were beaten in the next round by Dorking Wanderers.
