Preview for tonight's match against St Ives Town

Game 12/42.

Leiston visit St Ives this evening for another Evo-Stik Southern Premier Central Divsion match. This is not the first time that Leiston have visited the ground of St Ives Town, as they played them in the Extra Preliminary Round in the FA Vase in 1988, losing 4-2, with Glyn Clouting and Dale Threadkell netting the goals. In 2007, the Blues lost 3-2 at home to St Ives in the 2nd Round, also in the FA Vase.
However, this will be the first time the sides have met in a league game. Leiston have lost their last two league fixtures, and will have Reserve manager Ian Cornforth in charge tonight. The Blues begin the match in 7th place, and will be looking for three points this evening.

St Ives Town were formed in 1887. They reached the 3rd Qualifying Round of this season's Emirates FA Cup, losing to York City. In the FA Vase, they have enjoyed good runs in recent years. They reached the 5th Round in 2007-2008, 2008-2009 and 2009-2010. St Ives earned promotion to the Southern League Premier Division via the play-offs in 2015-2016, defeating AFC Rushden & Diamonds in front of 1,523 spectators.
