Blues drawn away to play Ipswich Town in Suffolk Premier Cup

Leiston have drawn Ipswich Town in the Suffolk Premier Cup semi-finals. The draw took place on Radio Suffolk on Saturday evening. The tie will be played at Felixstowe & Walton United on Wednesday 13th March, with kick off at 7.45. The other semi-final takes place a day before on Tuesday 12th March at Hadleigh United between Stowmarket Town and Felixstowe & Walton United.

Leiston have enjoyed success in recent seasons against Ipswich Town. They have beaten Ipswich in the last three seasons in the competition. In last year’s quarter-final, they defeated the Tractorboys with goals from Chris Henderson and a last minute header from Joe Jefford as Leiston won 2-1.

In the 2007 Suffolk Premier Cup final, Leiston lost 8-0 to Ipswich at Portman Road. In November 2008, just a week after Leiston went out of the FA Cup to Fleetwood Town, they lost 2-0 to Ipswich at Victory Road. In October 2010, Ipswich beat them again at Victory Road as they won 2-1 with David Head netting Leiston’s goal in front of 411 spectators.
