Reserves head to Whitton United tonight in the League Challenge Cup 1st Round

The Reserves head to Whitton United this evening in the League Challenge Cup 1st Round. The Reserves are on a great run of form, winning their last five matches in all competitions. The Reserves have reached the Last 16 of this competition twice before, losing 3-0 at home to Felixstowe & Walton United in 2014. They received a bye in the Preliminary Round that year before beating Woodbridge Town at Notcutts Park 1-0 and then going out to the Seasiders. In 2015 the Reserves beat Needham Market Reserves 3-1 at Bloomfields but lost 3-1 at Norwich United in the next round (Last 16).

The first team reached the final (played at Diss Town) in the 2008-2009 season where they lost on penalties to Stanway Rovers after the match finished 2-2 after extra time.

Whitton United currently sit 12th (out of 20 teams) in the Thurlow Nunn Premier Division. They have won three matches from their past five games.

If the match finishes level after ninety minutes tonight, then the tie will go straight to penalties. The reward for winning tonight is an away trip to Gorleston in the next round.
