Blues goalkeeper Charlie Beckwith signs his first contract

The Blues are delighted to announce that young goalkeeper Charlie Beckwith has signed his first contract with the club. Charlie has signed a one year deal with a years option. It is just reward for Charlie who has had a fine season starring for the Reserves and the League winning Under 18's and he also claimed the Reserves' Players Player of the Season at the end of season awards evening. 18 year old Charlie (pictured with Blues boss Glenn Driver, Vice Chairman Peter Mayhew and Director of Football & Club Secretary Trevor Elmy), joined the Blues when he was 16 and as well as appearing for the Reserves and Under 18's has also appeared for the first team in the last two years or so.

Blues boss Glen Driver said the following on Charlie's new contract;

"The signing of Charlie shows our clubs intent to sign the best young players coming through our system. Charlie is a fantastic prospect and it was important to offer him the chance to continue to develop with us. He has been training with Ipswich Town for over a year and played for them in some behind closed doors friendlies. As a club we must continue to promote youth and Charlie has a very bright future. We will do our best to fast track him but also manage him the best way possible. Goalkeepers are like goal scorers, they are very hard to find but in Charlie we have, in my opinion, the best 18 year old goalkeeper in Suffolk."

Congratulations to Charlie from everyone at Victory Road and we wish you continued success.
