U18's 4 Walsham Le Willows U18's 0
Successive wins at the start of the season
Leiston came into this game on the back of a superb 5-0 win against Whitton United last week. A warm evening greeted the two sides in what was the only game in the League that evening to go ahead. Walsham surprised Leiston in the first thirty seconds when Jamie Smith's header landed in the path of Toby Finbow who's well struck effort was well clawed away by Charlie Beckwith in the home goal. Leiston's first chance came after five minutes. Jac Garrard's corner was well floated in and Joe Berry headed over. A minute later, Luke Pattison had a snap shot that went wide of the target. Leiston broke the deadlock when Jac Garrard's mazy run ended with a cross to the back post where Berry powered home a header A lot of play was becoming congested in midfield and both teams were cancelling each other out. After Leiston won a free-kick just inside the Walsham area, Jake Seaber's delivery was well claimed by away custodian and skipper Alex Johns. Both teams were trying to play football along the ground on a pristine pitch, but it was Leiston who would double their lead four minutes before the break. Jac Garrard's decent run into the box saw him brought down by the Walsham defender. Garrard got up to put his penalty past Johns, with the keeper getting a good hand to the ball in the process but unable to keep it out. Adam Chenery's ball found Joe Berry but his effort was wide of the post. The final action of the half saw a good cross by Garrard that was met by the head of Berry but his attempt clattered the crossbar.

Leiston added another goal to their goals tally in the 51st minute when Ben Snowling got forward down the left hand side and connected well with his left foot to fire low into Johns' bottom left hand corner. It could have been four shortly later but Adam Chenery's header was cleared off the line while Chenery saw another effort flash wide. The game really was over when defender Jake Seaber ghosted past a couple of players and produced a rasping finish from twenty yards out. Walsham would not give up however, and after a long free-kick, Beckwith was nearly caught out and had to divert the ball wide for a corner. Another good set play by Kegan Whitby was met by George Lilley but he volleyed over. Lilley had another chance from a corner soon after but again it wasn't to be. Leiston had another opportunity when Snowling's cross was met by Lukas Darling, but his header was off target. Adam Blades and Carl Mayhew were denied by good blocks from the Walsham defence before Guy Blades' attempt in the last minute was well smothered by Johns.
