Leiston lost their last pre-season fixture, going down to a very well organised Norwich United side. Both teams had chances in the first half, Patrick Brothers' early cross landing on the roof of the net in the opening stages. Byron Lawrence had a shot well beaten away by keeper Wilton but Norwich took the lead in the final minute of the half, Adam Hipperson breaking free and firing past Garnham. There was hardly time to restart the half. Leiston came out of the blocks for the second half slowly, with Hipperson heading home for his second. Leiston were awarded a penalty just five minutes later, Matt Blake's run into the box saw him fouled to give the referee no other option. Jack Ainsley stepped up but his penalty hit the outside of the post. Norwich United had another chance blocked by Patrick Brothers on the line and Leiston had lots of other half chances through Blake, Henderson and Lawrence but it wasn't to be at the end of the day. Leiston start their league campaign next Saturday at home to Dorking Wanderers, looking for a good start to the season.
