Endeavour Automotive Group Suffolk Premier Cup Quarter-Final
7.45pm kick off

The Blues play their first match in ten days tonight as they visit Lowestoft Town in the Suffolk Premier Cup (7.45pm kick off).

Leiston had a great win in their last match, defeating a Hornchurch side top of the Isthmian Premier Division and are still unbeaten in the league. The Blues, however, slipped down to 16th in the league table at the weekend.

Lowestoft Town, meanwhile, won 5-0 at Enfield in the Isthmian North Division on Saturday and sit top currently of the league, with 16 points from 7 games.

The sides have met before in the Suffolk Premier Cup, with Lowestoft defeating Leiston in two Cup finals in 2006 (3-2, after extra time) and 2016 (3-1), with both matches played at Portman Road. Leiston have won a quarter-final and semi-final against Lowestoft. Luke Eagle’s late goal at Woodbridge Town helped Leiston defeat ‘The Trawlerboys’ 1-0 in the 2008 semi-final of the competition. In 2019, Byron Lawrence and Travis Cole were on target for both sides as Leiston won a quarter-final on penalties.

Lowestoft Town did lose to Needham Market in 2020 in their last final, the final being played over two legs at both teams respective clubs.

Tonight’s match will be decided on penalties OF the game finishes level after ninety minutes.

Tonight is the first Last 8 match in this year’s competition.

Other ties, to be played in November, see Felixstowe & Walton United host Hadleigh United whilst Ipswich Wanderers welcome an Ipswich Town XI to Humber Doucy Lane.

Needham Market still have to visit Long Melford United in the 2nd Round, with the winners to be at home to Stowmarket Town in the quarter-finals.

Lowestoft Town and Bury Town have won the competition on 13 occasions, but teams involving a Sudbury team and AFC Sudbury have won it 17 times.

Leiston won the competition in 2018 and 2019, defeating Bury Town 3-0 on the first occasion thanks to two Christy Finch goals and a Matt Blake strike before winning the Suffolk Premier Cup a year later against Felixstowe & Walton United 3-2, with Blake grabbing a hat-trick.
