Wasteful Blues punished by two late goals by Borough.

The Blues travelled to Earlsmead Stadium looking to continue their fine away form in their third successive away fixture and to keep tabs on those above them. The Blues included Colchester United striker Nnamdi Nwachuku who joins on loan for a month, in their starting line up so with only Leon Ottley-Gooch absent, the visitors were at full strength. Leiston started well quickly into their stride with Craig Parker and Nnamdi Nwachuku prominent and starting to cause the home defence some problems. Craig Parker headed over Tom Winter’s cross as Leiston looked in control. The home defence was at full stretch with home keeper Charlie Horlock at his sharpest to thwart Craig Parker when the Blues midfielder raced clear following a poor back pass but the home keeper made a fine save. Harrow came into the game as the half progressed and Danny Gay was forced to save from both Daniel May and Marc Charles-Smith. Howard Hall cleared a Tom Winter effort off the line as the half ended with the visitors somehow not in front as some frantic defending from a goal mouth scramble with the combination of Francis Otira and Charlie Horlock keeping out Craig Parker’s effort.

After their determined exploits of the first half it was hoped the visitors would regain the second period as they ended the first but they started slowly. In fact Borough were the brighter and a saving tackle from Adam Tann denied Harold Odametey. The game was now beginning to turn in favour for the visitors and on 66 minutes only a lick of paint denied the hosts the lead with Daniel May striking the woodwork with Danny Gay beaten. The warning wasn’t heeded and five minutes later Harrow sprung the lead. Lewis Driver, who had been pushed into a more advanced position, was unmarked to head home Daniel May’s corner. Leiston tried to respond quickly and Adam Tann headed wide. The woodwork then came to the visitors rescue on 80 minutes when the stretching Spencer Bellotti saw his header strike the angle of post and bar. As the game entered the final stages the Blues pushed men forward in the hope of salvaging a point at least and both Stuart Boardley and Craig Parker were close before Harrow sealed the win on the counter attack, Lewis Driver lobbing the advancing Danny Gay to claim all the points.
