Game 3/42.
The Blues head to Hertfordshire this evening to play their second away fixture of the campaign, a second side already this season that they will play a new team in the league for the first time.
Leiston’s win on Saturday was not only a good three points but a good performance as well. Berkhamsted went down 4-0 to Mickleover at the weekend, but put down a good marker on the opening day of the season when they won 2-1 at home against Nuneaton Borough.
Berkhamsted formed in 2009 after Berkhamsted Town FC folded. They had been going since the early part of the 20th century and played in the Herts County League. Berkhamsted have quickly progressed through the divisions. They won the Spartans First Division, winning it with 107 points, the highest tally in the national league pyramid in that season. Last campaign, they won their respective Step 4 league to progress to Step 3. In the 2021-2022 season they lost to North Leigh in the play-offs. Their biggest ever win was against Stotfold in the FA Cup in 2017, 12-1.
Leiston get back to home comforts on Saturday when Bromsgrove Sporting visit before heading to Stratford Town on the final Saturday in August. The Blues host Needham Market on Bank Holiday Monday.
