The Blues, sore after a 5-0 defeat at Mickleover in Derbyshire on Saturday, get back to home action tomorrow evening when St Ives Town visit for the second time in ten days.

Leiston were defeated by Mickleover on Saturday, a side surely destined for the play-offs at the very least on Saturday. The Blues however have a chance to quickly avenge that loss tomorrow night. Leiston won 2-1 against the Cambridgeshire outfit in the FA Cup at the start of the month. Joe Marsden and Ross Crane’s goals just before the half hour mark put Leiston in control befor Greg Kaziboni pulled a goal back early in the second period for the away side but Leiston held on the progress to the next round.

Leiston start the game in 14th place, with 8 points accumulated so far from 7 games while St Ives are currently 20th.

Last season, Leiston won the away fixture at St Ives thanks to goals from Adam Mills and Adam Bailey-Dennis whilst Will Davies netted at home to compete a 1-0 win in late January. In other home meetings, the Blues have lost one and won one in league games. In March 2019, St Ives won 2-0 in Suffolk before Leiston won 3-1 in October 2021.

The sides have also played each other twice in the FA Vase, which St Ives won (August 1988, 4-2) and (November 2007, 3-2) respectively.

New signing Albie Armin is in the squad for tomorrow’s fixture. The player was at Ipswich Town as a youngster, and most recently at Arbroath and QPR.
