Leiston begin the final month of the campaign away at Royston Town this afternoon. The Blues moved up to 12th on Saturday whilst Royston Town went up to 9th place with a win at Stamford. The earlier meeting in the season saw Leiston lose 3-2 at home to Royston. The Blues goals came from Zach Dronfield and Adam Bailey-Dennis, with the Blues defender being red carded just before the interval. It was the first time Royston had beaten Leiston in ten attempts. The sides first met in November 2010 in the FA Vase, with Leiston drawing 2-2 after extra time. Michael Brothers and David Head (pen) were the Blues scorers while a goal in the 2nd minute from Gareth Heath in the replay three days later put the Blues into the last 64 of the competition. Last season at Royston Town, Will Davies’ penalty in the 90th minute secured a point in the Blues third league game of the season.
The Blues see out the season as they host Hitchin Town on Saturday before travelling to Kettering Town next Tuesday and Redditch United a week on Saturday. The final two games sees Leiston welcome Leamington to Suffolk while they head to Long Eaton United on Saturday 27th April for the final matchday of the campaign.
