Staines Town 2 Blues 2
Late goal denies the Blues
A late, late goal from Tre Mitford denied Leiston a fifth 'double' of the season and all but ending the visitors slender play off hopes. Mitford raced onto a Bennett pass before beating Ashlee Jones for a share of the points with less than two minutes remaining. The Blues kept an unchanged line up from the side that drew with Billericay Town on Easter Monday and they had responded well to an early set back by taking the lead just after the hour mark. Staines took the lead on seven minutes, Jonathan Hippolyte crashing home from close range but the lead lasted just three minutes. Centre half Joe Jefford heading home a Seb Dunbar free kick for his tenth goal of the season. Leiston looked in control and boosted their chances of the win on 61 minutes when a crisp twenty yard effort from Billy Clark found the bottom corner. Staines pressed after Billy Clark's goal and Jack Bennett saw an effort strike the bar before Mitford's late intervention sealed a point and eased the hosts relegation worries. Whilst the Blues play off chances now look over, they have achieved their highest ever points total (68) at this level, they just need to finish above ninth for a best ever finish.
