Kingstonian ended the last remaining Ryman Leagues 100% record and Leiston's 100% winning record but Leiston still top the Ryman Premier Division after this eight goal thriller sponsored by POWERCLEAN CHEMICALS LIMITED. Leiston led then trailed then led again before trailing and then snatching a draw with a late penalty in a classic topsy turvey game in front of the Blues biggest gate of the season. Kingstonian were looking for a third straight League win and came into the game after a surprising early exit from the FA Cup so they were looking for a response. The Blues of course, were boasting a perfect seven from seven record but it was the K's that started strongly with the hosts taking their time to get into their stride, So it was against the run of play when the Blues opened the scoring, Rob Tolfrey unable to gather Byron Lawrence's free kick and Joe Jefford pounced to follow up to score on 18 minutes. Leiston now began to press and some timely defending denied the hosts a second goal. But just seven minutes after the opener the scores were level and from another set piece. Michael Onovwigun pouncing from six yards after a corner wasn't cleared. Another seven minutes passed before the impressive Michael Onovwigun netted again, this time curling home a sweet 20 yard effort after leaving three home defenders on the grass and Nick Eyre rooted to his line. With ten minutes of the half remaining Leiston responded and by the time Referee James Turner's half time whistle sounded they were back ahead. First a vicious, thumping drive from Byron Lawrence from twenty odd yards raced beyond Rob Tolfrey to level the scores and then great persistence from Christy Finch to chase a lost cause saw him cross for Matt Blake on the left by-line to sweep home his eighth goal of the season. The second half had a slow start to it before Kingstonian levelled again. Ryan Moss chasing what looked like a lost cause, levelling after keeper Nick Eyre had spilled a deep cross allowing Moss to fire into an empty net. Six minutes later the visitors had turned the game on its head as centre half Sam Page was left all alone at the far post to fire home a deep cross. Then followed a purple patch for the K's as they continued to cause problems in the home defence and allowing the hosts no time in possession or to dictate the game. But a change of fortune eleven minutes from time brought Leiston back level again. Joe Francis did well to keep hold of possession in the box before going down under the challenge of Michael Onovwigun with Referee Turner pointing to the spot. After what seemed an age of protests from the visitors on the decision, Byron Lawrence calmy fired home the spot kick. Suddenly the Blues sensed victory and two fantastic crosses from substitute Patrick Brothers almost provided the assists for two Matt Blake goals. The first flicking agonisingly against the crossbar the second, a downward header brilliantly tipped over by Rob Tolfrey. A winner would have been harsh on Kingstonian with a draw the fair result.
