Leiston remain four points clear of the chasing pack after twice battling back at Wheatsheaf Park. Two goals in two minutes from Joe Francis late in the game turning the game in Glenn Driver's sides favour as they remain unbeaten in the Ryman Premier Division. Manager Glenn Driver made two changes, one enforced with Tom Winter in for the injured Matt Blake while Patrick Brothers was preferred in midfield ahead of Jack Ainsley who was on the bench. The free scoring visitors, who hit their fiftieth goal of the season in midweek from just 15 games, almost endured a horror start. Keeper Jacob Marsden could have received a red card on five minutes for felling Mo Bettamer outside the box but Referee Killip only flashed a yellow card. Staines settled the better and the hosts deservedly took a 29th minute lead, substitute Jonathan Hippolyte, on for the injured Bettamer, heading home Max Worsfold's cross. Leiston responded with a Patrick Brothers header that smacked against the bar before skipper Tom Bullard headed the sides level three minutes before the break from a Gareth Heath corner. Early in the second half Jack Turner in the home goal made a finger tip save to deny Gareth Heath before Staines regained the lead on 64 minutes courtesy of a stunning long range effort from Max Worsfold after a neat exchange with Jefferson Louis. The visitors then lost Joe Jefford to a nasty hand injury with Jake Hutchings making his second appearance from the bench. Back came the battling Blues again and Joe Francis was on hand to level after Byron Lawrence's shot had bounced back off the bar. It was Francis again moments later, powering home a header from a Gareth Heath cross to nudge the visitors ahead, a lead they refused to relent. The Blues now have a free week as they prepare for next Saturday's trip to Westfields in the FA Cup.
