Leiston came into this game in good spirits after two wins from their first two matches. Patrick Brothers came in for the suspended Chris Henderson, while Regan Pelling was welcomed back into the sixteen. After just three minutes, however, Leiston found themselves a goal down. Marcus Garnham did well to punch clear but the fell to Jack Evans' whose clever lob eluded everyone to nestle into the back of the net. The hosts were well in control and doubled their advantage when winger Matt Bodkin cut in and powered home a well drilled effort beyond Marcus Garnham into the far corner. It was all Margate who controlled proceedings and Marcus Garnham kept Leiston in the game with a fine save just before the break. Leiston's best effort fell to Matt Blake but he fired wide of the target when well placed. Leiston came out the blocks the quicker after the interval and after Christy Finch was fouled, Byron Lawrence scored a fabulous free-kick in off the crossbar just ten minutes into the half. Tom Bullard, Matt Blake and Christy Finch all had decent chances as Leiston pressed for a leveller. The pressure told in stoppage when Byron Lawrence sweet centre into the box was met by the head of Joe Marsden to restore parity and save a point for the away side.noon.
