First ever defeat at Champion Hill

The Blues suffered a first ever defeat at Champion Hill as title chasing Dulwich Hamlet deservedly secured all the points. The visitors were forced to reshuffle following Tuesday's win at Merstham with Tom Bullard not fit and Seb Dunbar unavailable and were soon on the back foot on a cold afternoon in South London. After a slow start Dulwich went on to dominate the game in the second half and after an 11th minute cross from Nyren Clunis had just evaded Reise Allassani, Leiston then went close when Chris Henderson and Matt Blake combined but Preston Edwards was out quickly to collect the through ball. Within a minute Dulwich were in front as a long ball over the top fell to Nyren Clunis who poked the ball past visiting keeper Marcus Garnham. The ball rolled against the post and as Harry Knights hesitated to clear, Reise Allassani reacted quickest to slam the ball home. A poor pass from Ibrahim Kargbo resulted in Byron Lawrence firing just wide, whilst Kenny Beaney fired too high from a free kick on the edge of the box, following a foul on Nyren Clunis. Jack Ainsley fired wide for Leiston, whilst another Clunis cross was just too high for Allassani. Quade Taylor blocked a shot from Matt Blake after the ball was given away before Nyren Clunis struck the post and Marcus Garnham produced a stunning save from Michael Onovwigun. With half time approaching, a Nathan Green cross just evaded Ibrahim Kargbo as he rushed into the box.

The first half had been even, but Dulwich went on to dominate the second half. Preston Edwards was called on to keep out an effort from Christy Finch before Reise Allassani added his second in the 59th minute. A long ball forward from Nathan Ferguson released Reise Allassani in behind the defence and he ran on to finish confidently past Marcus Garnham. Nyren Clunis was foiled by a good stop from Marcus Garnham after he burst on to a through ball. Leiston had a good chance to get back into the game when Rob Eagle fired wide when well placed. However, Dulwich made the game safe in the 78th minute when a free kick from Kenny Beaney was headed home by Nathan Green.
Nyren Clunis embarked on a long run that took him into the penalty area but couldn't get a shot away and he also fired just too high after being set up by Nana Boakye-Yiadom. Nyren Clunis then struck the post for the second time and Boakye-Yiadom saw his low shot well saved.
With a minute to play, Ashley Carew fired an effort that saw Marcus Garnham produce a fantastic save to his left to prevent a fourth goal.
