Patrick Brothers came in for Darren Mills in the only change from the match with Folkestone Invicta on Saturday in this MATCH SPONSORED BY SPORTS PAYMENT SOLUTIONS & MRS SUE TUGWELL.
The match got off to a tentative start but got going in the 8th minute. Joe Jefford out Christy Finch but with only goalkeeper Melvin Minter to beat, he put his shot wide of the keeper’s right hand post. Shortly later, Jake Reed set up Christy Finch but he shot tamely at the keeper. Shaun Preddie fired over the crossbar for Harrow’s first attempt on goal before Kyle Hammond’s intelligent ball released Chris Henderson but he lobbed his effort over the bar. Leiston took the lead just after the half hour mark. Harrow cleared from a corner, however, the ball came back to Byron Lawrence and he let fly from outside the box with Melvin Minter tipping his shot onto the crossbar. The loose ball fell to Joe Jefford and he bravely headed the ball into the net under pressure from Minter. Byron Lawrence sent in another delivery but Seb Dunbar couldn’t get a good connection with the ball and it went wide. Patrick Brothers cut in from the left hand side and his attempt was just wide of Minter’s left hand upright. Leiston conceded a foul in a dangerous position of the pitch in the last couple of minutes of the first half, but George Moore’s free kick was wide of the target.
Adam Richards put a decent ball into the Leiston penalty area early in the second period but it was the home side who scored the second goal. Christy Finch found himself just outside the area when he struck well and seemed to deceive Minter much to the delight of the home crowd. A minute after the restart, Chris Henderson went on a run into the box and dragged his shot into the path of Christy Finch but he somehow couldn’t convert. Chinua Cole shot straight at Marcus Garnham as Harrow tried their upmost for a response. Seb Dunbar and Patrick Brothers combined well on the left to set up Christy Finch who’s strike smashed the crossbar but the ball came back to Jake Reed who tee'd up Jack Ainsley and he brilliantly chipped into Minter’s top right hand corner to put Leiston three goals up. Jack Ainsley and Christy Finch are now joint top scorers with 15 goals each. Jack Ainsley nearly added another goal with a rising strike but the impressive Minter pushed over for a corner. Marcus Garnham turned sub Charles Banya’s shot round his left hand post as Harrow kept trying. At the other end, Christy Finch went through one on one with the keeper but Minter again blocked well. Minter palmed Chris Henderson cross over his own bar as the game was reaching its conclusion. Another sub, Tarum Dawkins, tried a shot on the angle but Marcus Garnham was down to his right to gather well. Jake Reed and Joe Marsden had efforts late on time, but there were to be no more goals.
