Leiston's FA Cup dreams were shattered in the Herefordshire rain as Westfields of the Midland Premier Division dumped Glenn Driver's side out of this year's competition. Leiston's hopes of a lucrative First Round draw were dashed when the hosts leading scorer Richard Greaves crashed home an effort right at the death. Leiston, Suffolk's remaining non league side in the FA Cup, started strongly and dictated the opening 50 minutes or so spurning a host of chances. The visitors, in red hot form in front of goal, were minus injured leading scorer Matt Blake but still looked too strong for their hosts who ply their trade two leagues lower. Leon Ottley-Gooch, making his first start for five weeks, headed over efforts inside the box, failing to trouble Kieron Blackburn in the home goal. Christy Finch twice forced Blackburn into saves while Patrick Brothers missed another great chance and Joe Francis twice fired efforts straight at Blackburn as the opening goal of the game looked inevitable for the visitors. It was clear Westfields, playing in this, their sixth game in this year's tournament, best opportunities would be via set pieces and so it proved as they took the lead on 57 minutes with their first real sight of goal, captain Phil Glover out jumping the Leiston centre half pairing of Tom Bullard and Joe Jefford to glance home a header from a free kick from the right flank that flashed across Danny Potter in the visitors goal into the right hand corner. Leiston toiled for a response but deservedly drew level with just over a quarter of an hour remaining. Substitute Tom Winter clever movement created the space for him to meet Patrick Brothers left wing centre and fire his shot high into the roof of the net for a fine equaliser. A replay at Victory Road was looming when Westfields stunned the Ryman Premier Division leaders with just over a minute remaining. Leiston failed to clear a cross from the left and the ball fell invitingly to leading scorer Richard Greaves whose shot took a deflection before beating Danny Potter in the Leiston goal. Leiston piled forward in stoppage time pushing their corner count into the late teens but the Hereford side held firm to claim another notable scalp and book their place in today's first round draw.
