Game thirty eight. Here we are exactly two months to the day from the postponed fixture between the sides back in January. The Blues will be hoping to keep their good run of late going, Saturday’s victory over Wingate & Finchley extending the unbeaten run to five games. It is now getting to the serious part of the season as the games remaining can now be counted on two hands. Three points off the play offs the Blues will be hoping for three points on Tuesday to put pressure on those above them especially Staines Town and Hendon who are also in action tonight at Wheatsheaf Park and with the Blues due to visit Staines on Saturday.

The Angels arrive in Suffolk following a tidy victory over Kingstonian at the weekend and despite being ninth and twelve points off the play offs, shouldn’t be totally dismissed from the play off picture with ten games remaining. I’m sure by their own admission Tonbridge have had an inconsistent season yet they could still gate crash the end of season play offs. They are only nine points behind the Blues and a win could see them close that gap to just six points with a game in hand, against Billericay Town on Thursday. Away from the comforts of their Longmead Stadium where they have won eleven of their nineteen games and boast a better home record than our own, they have lost ten times on their travels from seventeen games.

Earlier in the season the Kent side recovered from an early Jack Ainsley goal to inflict a first League defeat of the season on Glen Driver’s side and a first home victory at the fourth attempt. Games between the sides are notoriously close affairs and of the seven games to date, the Blues hold the upper hand with four wins compared to Tonbridge’s two with a single draw, four of those seven games seeing 2-1 victories.

For Glen Driver’s side they will be hoping to continue to gain momentum for the final play off push. He will have a fully fit squad at his disposal as he looks to try and better last season’s home wins of thirteen with just five home games remaining.
