Game 27/42.

The Blues host ‘The Canaries’ this weekend at Victory Road against Hertfordshire club Hitchin Town. Stuart Boardley and David Head will be without the suspended Harry Knights (serving his second of a three match ban), while Ashley Nicholls is unavailable and Dominic Docherty is still injured. However, Tom Bullard is likely to be back in the squad. Leiston have only lost 2 of their last 9 league matches, but they are now 8 points off the play-offs as they sit in 11th position.

Hitchin are currently in 18th place, with 23 points from 25 league matches. They have won their last two league matches, beating Stourbridge last Saturday 2-1 and King’s Lynn Town 3-0 at Top Field. Before that, they had lost their last 7 games, conceding 18 times. The game at Hitchin (Top Field), saw the teams share a 2-2 draw. Isaac Galliford scored Hitchin’s goal to put the hosts a goal up, but Joe Jefford and Tom Bullard scored two goals in the space of four minutes to give the Blues the lead. But Ezra Forde netted a leveller for ‘The Canaries’ in the 93rd minute. Hitchin have played in a few leagues since forming in 1928, and have played in the Spartan League, Athenian League, Isthmian League and Southern League. They played in the very first ever FA Cup in 1871-1872, losing in the quarter-finals to Royal Engineers. Ex Chelsea, Luton Town and England forward Kerry Dixon once managed Hitchin.
