Match Preview
Game twenty nine and after an enforced eleven day lay off due to Hendon’s FA Trophy tie, the Blues will be eager to return to action especially after a fine win on their travels last time out at Wingate & Finchley. The last home game here saw defeat against Leatherhead but the side played very well and certainly deserved something from the game. We now enter an important stage of the season where in previous seasons, in these run of fixtures, we have faltered and this has proved the catalyst for not achieving a play off place. Certainly last season in games 29 through to 33 (five games) we failed to collect a single point and a run of one point from twenty one seriously damaged our play off aspirations. Currently the Blues are seven points worse off than at this stage last season.

The Angels arrive in Suffolk following an impressive single goal victory at Enfield Town on Tuesday night. This was no mean feat especially as this was the first home defeat of the season for the Towners. Tonbridge have had an inconsistent season yet they still sit handily placed for a crack at the end of season play offs with eighteen games remaining. They are just seven points behind the Blues and a win could see them close that gap to just four points. Away from the comforts of their Longmead Stadium where they have won eight of their fourteen games, they have lost eight times with Tuesday’s win in North London only their fourth from fourteen games on their travels. In fact, both sides have near identical home records the only difference being the Blues have scored 25 to Tonbridge’s 23. Earlier in the season the Kent side recovered from an early Jack Ainsley goal to inflict a first League defeat of the season on Glen Driver’s side and a first home victory at the fourth attempt. Games between the sides are notoriously close affairs and of the seven games to date, the Blues hold the upper hand with four wins compared to Tonbridge’s two with a single draw, four of those seven games seeing 2-1 victories.

For Glen Driver's side they will be hoping for a first home win in three after successive home defeats to Lowestoft Town and Leatherhead at Victory Road. The extended rest will have helped the squad with any minor injuries so Driver will have a fully fit squad at his disposal. He will also be hopeful that Matt Blake continues his recent form (three goals in three games) as the Blues look to add to their goal tally.
