Blues striker Matt Blake agrees to extend his stay

The Blues are delighted to announce that striker Matt Blake has committed to a further three years at Victory Road. Matt had a fantastic inaugural season at step three, netting 42 goals in all competitions, 29 of which were in the Premier Division which helped him scoop the golden boot award. 28 year old Matt (pictured with Blues Chairman Andy Crisp (l) and Manager Glenn Driver) has been attracting various suitors over the months but is happy to commit to the club for the future.

A happy Blues boss Glenn Driver said the following on the news;

"Agreeing a deal with Matt Blake to stay at the club is massive for all involved. He was without doubt the best striker I saw last season and for him to step up two Leagues from the Thurlow Premier Division and score 42 goals was a terrific achievement. He is a level headed guy and is great around the other players. Having Matt for the start of this season gives myself and Tony Kinsella a relief as he would have been very difficult to replace. I would like to thank the football club for supporting me in what is a massive signing for our club. I wish Matt all the best and I'm sure he will become a Leiston legend".

Congratulations to Matt from everyone at Victory Road and we look forward to continued success.
