Midfield General Stuart Boardley has called time on his Leiston career and decided to move on now that the season has been completed. Stuart sat down with Manager Richard Wilkins towards the latter stages of the season and felt now was perhaps time to move on.
Stuart has made over 300 League appearances for the Blues with over 50 League goals. A tremendous servant to the club, Stuart is an outstanding midfielder with a sweet left foot forever providing a defence splitting assist or timely tackle. The last two seasons have seen Stuart utilised at left back, another position he seamlessly moved into.
The former Ipswich Town and Torquay United player had a spell at AFC Sudbury before returning to Victory Road at the start of season 2008 where he played an integral part in the Blues excellent FA Cup run including a stunning strike at then Conference Premier Lewes on an historic night for the club. Stuart scored some cracking goals including two superb strikes against Haverhill Rovers in the FA Vase in October 2010 with the Blues staring defeat in a competition they reached the Quarter Finals in that season. Stuart was also an instrumental part of the side that achieved back to back promotions in winning the Ridgeons League Premier Division in 2011 and the Ryman League Division One North in 2012. It was a fitting finale that in Stuart's final home game this season he would captain the side and deservedly collect the Man of the Match award.
Everyone at the club would like to thank Stuart for his outstanding efforts whilst playing for the Blues and wishes him and his family the very best for the future.
