For the second successive season the Blues will start the new season with an opening home game against Coalville Town. Manager Stuart Boardley, starting his first full season in the Blues hot seat, will take charge against the Leicestershire based side on Saturday, August 10th following the release of the BetVictor Southern League Premier Division Central fixtures. Last season goals from Christy Finch and Chris Henderson secured a 2-0 victory but it will be a much changed line up this time around with only four players remaining from the starting eleven from last season. Dates against fellow Suffolk sides include away trips to Needham Market on Bank Holiday Monday, August 26th and Lowestoft Town on Boxing Day. The Blues will host Needham Market on New Years Day and Lowestoft Town on Easter Monday. The season will end, like last season, against Redditch United on Saturday, April 25th but on this occasion the game will be at Victory Road.
It will be the fifth consecutive time the Blues have been at home on opening day and the Blues are unbeaten in the previous eight opening day matches. You have to go back to August 2010 for the last opening day defeat with Wisbech Town winning 3-1 at Victory Road in the then Ridgeons League Premier Division. In fact, the Blues have a very good record when the seasons kick off, losing just twice in the last 18 years.
The full list of fixtures will follow shortly.
