The Blues can confirm that striker Niko Muir-Merchant has been released. Niko joined the Blues in December from Hendon and proved to be an instant hit forming a formidable partnership with strike partner Matt Blake. London based Niko netted 11 goals in 30 appearances (all competitions) providing 10 assists and claiming four Man of the Match awards and soon became a fans favourite. A change in work has meant Niko cannot commit to all the travelling to and from Suffolk so he now looks set to return to a club closer to home and a return to Hendon.

Niko had the following to say on leaving;

"It was a very enjoyable experience and an honour to play for the club. It will stay close to my heart and I am definitely going to miss everyone at Leiston."

Blues boss Glenn Driver had this to say on Niko's departure;

"Losing Niko came right out of the blue and he will be very difficult to replace. Since he joined our club he instantly brought so much more to the squad, his attitude towards the game was always professional and I'm sure his new club will benefit from Niko on and off the pitch. I'd like to thank Niko for all his efforts and I wish him all the best for the future."
