Blues head South to take on VCD Athletic in the FA Trophy

Leiston play away at VCD Athletic on Saturday in the FA Trophy First Qualifying Round. Leiston have reached the First Round Proper on two occasions previously, losing to Bromley 2-0 in 2014 and also being defeated by the same side in 2016 in a replay.

VCD are currently fifth in their respective league, the BOSTIK League South East Division. They have 18 points from their 10 league games played and beat Hanwell Town 3-1 in the Preliminary Round.

VCD Athletic were formed in 1916 and joined the original Kent League after the First World War. The club began playing Step 4 football in 2009, and were promoted to the then Ryman Premier in 2014 but were relegated in 2016.

The Blues have added Charlie Beckwith, Charlie Canham and Matt Rutterford to their squad tomorrow, while Harry Lay-Fulcher and Joshua Moore drop out to play in the Reserves. Matt Blake faces a late fitness test.

If the match is level after 90 minutes tomorrow, then there will be a Replay at Victory Road on Tuesday night.
