Leiston Reserves hosted Holland on an extremely cold evening at Victory Road. Harry Knights came into the starting line up while James Gaffer was on the bench for the first team away at Hendon. The Reserves started the match well, and Matt Rutterford nearly broke the deadlock in the second minute, but his shot went narrowly wide of Alex Ball’s right hand post. Alex Ball was forced into action when a good team move ended with Jac Garrard smashing an effort from the edge of the box. Will Oxbrow saw his strike easily collected by Ball, before Jac Garrard’s corner hit the top of the crossbar. At the other end, Holland won a couple of corners that Charlie Beckwith punched them away to safety. The final chance of note in the half fell to Rutterford who pulled back the ball instead of shooting but no one could convert.
Kyle Cassell shot straight at Ball four minutes into the second period, but Holland soon became the more dominant team. A long ball over the top set Fin O’Reilly away who turned Harry Knights but Charlie Beckwith got down well to deny him. However, just a couple of minutes later, Tom Mansfield fouled on the edge of the penalty area and Keelan Sorrell curled a brilliant free kick into Beckwith’s bottom left hand corner. It could have been two when a free kick into the box was somehow put over by Chris Ribchester. In the 62nd and 63rd minute, Steve Eaton finished well on both occasions to finish the match and take away Leiston’s chances of getting back in the contest. Holland had further chances, while away keeper Ball was off his line to deny Leiston sub Paris Tuwizana with Kyle Cassell putting the rebound over the bar. In the 82nd minute Zaac Smith-Walter rounded off proceedings to send the visitors home with all three points.
