Leiston welcomed a strong Framlingham Town team to Victory Road on a mild January evening. After just four minutes Leiston right back Jake Seaber was unlucky to be yellow carded for an apparent handball but Danny Smith could only drill into the Leiston wall from a free kick and the Blues cleared. Max Willett had the visitors first shot on target but Charlie Beckwith made a comfortable save. After Matt Rutterford’s cross from the right hand side, Kyle Cassell turned his man well but could only fire over Chilvers’ crossbar. Kyle Cassell opened his account for Leiston on 15 minutes when his free kick went in off Chilvers right hand post. Almost immediately Charlie Beckwith had to save a Max Willett effort and from the corner Jake Taylor headed against the Leiston crossbar. Just a minute later though and the scores were level when Danny Smith finished well. Charlie Beckwith denied Danny Smith moments later with a decent save while at the other end James Burnett headed wide from Josh Cheetham’s set piece. Max Willett had another drive that Charlie Beckwith was again alert to. In the final chance of the half, Josh Cheetham striked wide of the target.
Josh Kerridge put the visitors in the lead just a minute into the second half when he met a header from a corner to give Charlie Beckwith no chance. Matthew Aldis had another chance from a corner just a few minutes later but headed wide. In the 51st minute Max Willett was sent off for a late challenge in the Leiston penalty area. However, this seemed to spur the away side on as three minutes later, Jake Taylor converted at the back post from Ling's deep cross. The same player saw a free kick go well wide of Beckwith’s goal as Framlingham were trying to kill the game off. Matt Rutterford’s curling attempt on the edge of the penalty brought out a fine save from Sam Chilvers and Charlie Beckwith got down to his right to gather from Alex Ling. Kyle Cassell crossed for Matt Rutterford but Sam Chilvers pushed the ball round the post. With just three minutes of normal time remaining Danny Smith sealed the points for Framlingham with another good finish. The win moves the visitors up to third in the table, whilst Leiston remain in tenth place. Next up for the Reserves is a home match against Little Oakley on Saturday.
