The Reserves picked up their first win in the league since the first Saturday in February with a single goal victory over Diss Town.
Diss had the first serious chance in the 8th minute game as Will Goulding’s free kick was parried away by Charlie Beckwith and ex Blue Nuno Nogueira headed over the bar. Charlie Beckwith then claimed well from a corner before Goulding’s volley went just past the post. Jac Garrard’s corner was put into the net but Referee Dario Mathewson blew for a foul. Josh Cheetham tried his luck from distance but his effort was deflected over the bar. Jack Tipple’s attempt from a corner was gathered by Charlie Beckwith. Diss had a lot of the before the break but could not break the Reserves down.
The Reserves started the second half well and Matt Rutterford fired just over Diss keeper Jake Hayhoe’s crossbar. In the 52nd minute the Reserves took the lead. Josh Cheetham’s pass over the away defence set Kyle Cassell away and he took the ball around Hayhoe to coolly net and put the Blues in front. The Reserves had another good chance moments later as Will Cassell crossed from the left but Josh Cheetham fired over the crossbar. Charlie Beckwith saved well from Charlie Lambe with Jac Garrard clearing away the loose ball. Goulding had a free kick deflected which Charlie Beckwith decided to punch away and Lambe turned the rebound wide. Matt Rutterford was off target as the Reserves were holding their own and playing well. Diss put a few crosses into the Leiston penalty area but these were cleared away and the young Reserve side held on for a deserved victory.
