Reserves still looking for their first home win

The Reserves suffered their fourth 2-1 defeat of the season, again after opening the scoring. Owen Hammond fired the Reserves ahead on 19 minutes but Norwich CBS equalised on the half hour mark. Early in the second half the visitors took the lead and then missed a penalty as they claimed all the points.

The Blues started well against 7th places Norwich CBS and Will Davies’ cross field ball found Ben Snowling but his cross was punched away by Asa Swatman. In the away sides first chance, Harry Lay-Fulcher punched away a corner with Daniel Barraclough heading over from the ball back into the area. Ben Snowling stroked wide from distance while Josh Moore headed behind from Adam Blades’ delivery. Leiston took the lead in the 19th minute. Harrison Bacon’s ball into the box split the Norwich defence and Owen Hammond got in behind to slot home into Asa Swatman’s right hand corner. Harry Lay-Fulcher easily took Payton Swatman’s free kick and the same player somehow put wide of the post when well placed moments later. However, the visitors levelled on the half hour mark. Tim Henery got down the left wing and turned inside to unleash a right footed effort into Lay-Fulcher’s bottom left hand corner. Matt Rutterford and Josh Moore both hit a post before half time as Leiston finished the half the stronger team.

Harry Lay-Fulcher blocked well from Lewis Johnson at the start of the second period, and a couple of minutes later he produced a great save to tip over Tim Henery’s rising shot. Jordan King curled a free kick over the bar for Norwich, and at the other end, Harrison Bacon’s good run ended with a strike on the edge of the area that Swatman clawed away well in the away goal. Norwich CBS took the lead in the 65th minute. Another free kick was awarded on the outside of the area and Payton Swatman expertly guided home the free kick. A penalty was given when a Leiston player was deemed to have handled the ball but Harry Lay-Fulcher pushed Tim Henery’s spot kick away. Adam Blades worked a good opening but he was just off target with his shot. Norwich CBS saw out the game with little danger.
The Reserves travel to Whitton United next in the League Challenge Cup on Tuesday 25th September.
