Blues hit ten past King's Lynn Reserves at Victory Road as they gain first home win of the season

The Reserves beat King's Lynn Reserves to move up four places to 13th after a fine display at Victory Road.

The game started well for the Reserves and they nearly took the lead as Louis Bloom got in behind the away defence but was denied by the legs of Brad Stewart. However, the deadlock was broken as Will Davies headed home unmarked from a corner after just nine minutes. Leiston were knocking the ball around well and extended their lead in the 20th minute. Good play by Robert Eagle saw Louis Bloom strike home into Stewart's bottom right hand corner. Will Davies had another chance moments later but his shot went narrowly wide. King's Lynn Reserves showed what they were capable of though and pulled a goal back as Louis Gaughran fired past Harry Lay-Fulcher. Just three minutes later, and Will Davies was put through by Louis Bloom and he dummied the keeper to score Leiston's third goal and his second. Niki Shopov's cross from the left hand side was headed towards goal by Bloom but keeper Stewart saved well. Harry lay-Fulcher spread himself well to deny Alex Clunan and the keeper also did well with the follow up effort. Harrison Bacon missed a good opportunity as he placed his shot wide of Stewart's right hand upright, while at the other end Lay-Fulcher saved well again from Clunan.

In the first telling action of the second period, Louis Bloom forced Stewart into a decent save and Harrison Bacon smashed wide from the follow up shot. In the 54th minute though, the Blues scored their fourth goal. Josh Cheetham's pass beyond the away defence enabled Will Davies to latch on to the ball and he expertly passed the ball into the net. Stewart stopped Cheetham and Robert Eagle strikes, and Harry Knights put over from close range. Alex Clunan got on the scoresheet on the hour mark to reduce King's Lynn Town Reserves arrears. The game was virtually put to bed when Rob Eagle passed to Niki Shopov on the left flank and he cut inside to shoot into Stewart's top right hand corner. James Gaffer tucked away a penalty after Will Davies was fouled in the area, while Davies scored his fourth after good work by Bloom. Toby Groom was taken out in the box to allow Owen Hammond to get on the scoresheet, Louis Bloom netted a ninth goal and Will Davies was sent clear in the 88th minute to make it ten and score his fifth goal of the game.
