LEISTON fans can look forward to brighter nights with brighter lights as the Blues unveil their new floodlights tomorrow night.
Chris Wigger’s side entertain Colchester United U21s, 7.30pm kick-off, in their penultimate pre-season test at Victory Road – and the new floodlights will be making their debut.
With funding from the Football Foundation, the lights will be unveiled. It is the first time they have been upgraded since 1982.
“I know our fans are going to notice the difference,” chairman Andy Crisp said. “They are going to really enjoy them.
“I would like to thank the Football Foundation for their help. The higher standard you play, the more money is available, and we can dip into that.

“We had funding from Sizewell B with our original ones, but they have very much served their purpose.
“We needed an upgrade. Now we have done that and have got excellent lights for the new season. It brings us up to standard for the Southern League and above.”
Testing took place last week and after a few tweaks the floodlights are all good to go. Not that the Blues are stopping there with work on their ground as they continue to upgrade the Watson & Hillhouse Stadium.
“We have new dugouts and they are coming on well, with concrete set to go down later this week,” Andy added.
“Our big thanks to Francis Wealth Management, who have sponsored the new dugouts. We are grateful to them and all our sponsors who help us continue to improve facilities and develop our community club.”
Admission for the game against Colchester United U21s is £6 adults, £4 concessions, £2 under 16s.
Meanwhile, the first team travel to Bury Town on Friday night for their final pre-season test, ahead of the new Southern Premier Central Division season, while the U23s begin their Thurlow Nunn North campaign at Diss Town tomorrow night.
