The Blues scored a penalty deep into stoppage time to secure their first point of the campaign against Bishop’s Stortford, as Ben Fowkes shot home from the spot in the 92nd minute.
Both teams had chances in the first half, with Eddie Jackson clearing off the line and Ollie Yun and Jamar Loza going close for the Blues at the other end.
In the second period, Bradley Russell put the visitors ahead on 57 minutes but this sparked Leiston into life. Charlie Binns saved twice from Loza while Ismael Fatadjo’s header deflected onto the crossbar. In stoppage time, Fowkes crossed into the box and Kyran Clements was fouled which allowed Fowkes to step up and strike into Binns bottom right hand corner. There was still time for Greg Halford to be sent off for a second bookable offence on Eddie Jackson as both teams settled for a point.
