The Blues won their first league game of the season at home to Royston Town on Bank Holiday Monday as a George Quantrell double helped the side to a 2-0 win.
In an even opening half, Leiston took the lead as Quantrell’s curling left-foot attempt found the corner of Tommy Dixon-Hodge’s goal in first half stoppage time.
On 55 minutes, Royston’s Harvey Beckett was shown a second yellow card as the Hertfordshire club were reduced to ten men. The Blues capitalised on this and started to control the game. On 70 minutes, Jamar Loza went through on goal to square the ball to Quantrell who made no mistake to score into an empty net and double the lead. Away keeper Tommy Dixon-Hodge made some good saves late on as Leiston pressed for a third.
Today’s attendance was 194. Thanks Blues fans for your support this afternoon.
The Blues are up to 17th in the league table and host Waltham Abbey this coming weekend in the Emirates FA Cup First Qualifying round (3pm kick off).
