Blues Skipper Tom Bullard joins Stowmarket Town

Blues captain Tom Bullard has left the club to sign for Stowmarket Town in the Thurlow Nunn Premier Division this evening.

Tom joined the Blues in the Summer of 2014 from Bury Town and played 179 league matches for Leiston over 5 years, netting 14 times. Overall, Bullard made 219 appearances scoring 15 goals in total.

In his time at the club, Tom helped skipper the side to two Suffolk Premier Cup final victories and lead Leiston to finishes of 9th, 8th, 7th and 5th to help guide Leiston into the play-offs in the 2017/2018 season.

Earlier Bullard said: - ‘I’m sad to be leaving the club but it’s the right time to step down and I now have a new challenge playing closer to home as playing Step 3 football was becoming a strain on my business and family. I’ve had 5 really good years with Leiston, lifting the Suffolk Premier Cup twice and reaching the play-offs in 2018. I’ve also met some fantastic people. The supporters, directors, chairman and management and i’d like to wish them all the best for the season ahead.

Leiston manager Stuart Boardley said: - ‘Bully has been a fantastic captain in his time at Leiston. He just couldn’t commit to the level no more and we respect his decision and wish him all the best but the offer was too hard to turn down once Stowmarket had made an approach.

Everyone at Leiston FC wishes Tom all the best at Stowmarket Town and thank him for his time at Leiston FC.
