LEISTON will need to be on their toes and ready for the Redditch United challenge, says Blues head coach, Lee Norfolk, as the Worcestershire-based side make the long trek to Suffolk this weekend for a Southern League Central Premier division clash.
Two Jamar Loza goals sealed Leiston’s first away win of the season at Redditch back in October. And there is little doubt the visitors to the Watson & Hillhouse Stadium on Saturday (3pm kick-off), will seek a bit of revenge. Even more so with the visitors able to leapfrog Leiston in the table should they pull off a victory having won their last two league games against Barwell and Kettering Town.
“Redditch have come through a tough patch and picked up two good home wins recently,” Norfolk said.
“They will be coming to avenge the home defeat to us and draw level on points. They are a side who always carry an attacking threat, have goals in their side and start games fast, so we must be ready.”
But Leiston are in good form themselves, with three straight league wins that has seen no goals conceded. It’s moved the Blues up to eighth in the division, on the cusp of the play-offs, and three points and three places above Redditch.
The team has found some good form, as Norfolk acknowledges.
“There’s never a bad time to find form, but we hope we can maintain that for the run-in and keep the pressure on teams above us,” he said.
“We are in a good place in the league table, slipping under the radar a bit and going about our business, trying to take points from each game.”
