Harrison takes his young side to Felixstowe in final showdown

'We’re buzzing for the final and I know the lads will look forward to it.'
- Lee Harrison

BLUES Under 18’s manager Lee Harrison is looking ahead to Monday night's Veo Suffolk Under-18 Midweek Cup Final as his Leiston side head to Felixstowe & Walton United FC to take on Needham Market, kick off 7.45pm.

“We’re buzzing for the final on Monday and I know the lads will look forward to it”, Harrison said.

“We know Needham will be strong and they have had a fantastic season so far.”

Leiston are fifth in the league but have a chance to end the season in third spot should they get maximum points from their remaining four games with Needham Market close to winning the league.

“The cup run has been exciting, we started well but it wasn’t necessarily a goal of ours to reach the final.”

“By the time we got to the Walsham game we knew that we wanted to get to the next round and be competitive in the competition. That game was a brilliant game of football with the opposition hitting us late on with a double before we sealed the winner."

The Blues have beaten Hadleigh United, Walsham and Bury Town (all away from home) before defeating Brantham Athletic 4-0 at Debenham LC in the semi-finals of competition.

Needham got a walkover in Round One after Lakenheath pulled out of the competition before beating AFC Sudbury on penalties in Round Two and then defeating Lowestoft Town (both games at home). Needham then beat Woodbridge Town 4-0 in their Senior Final at Ipswich Wanderers FC.

Harrison added; “We have always been positive while looking to dominate early on, we certainly did that at Bury and against Brantham in the semi finals."
