Leiston U23’s progressed to the quarter-finals of the CNet Training Suffolk Senior Cup this afternoon after a late goal helped beat Claydon in Round 2, in front of a healthy crowd of 74 at Victory Road.
Dylan Buxton gave the visitors an early lead on 12 minutes, capitalising on a mistake at the back from the Blues, but Emile Dozzell levelled after good work by Matt Mullis halfway through the first half.
The second half was fairly even, but Leiston were grateful for an Oliver Dawson double save on 83 minutes as Claydon burst forward. However, Dion Dozzell jinxed his way down the right in the second minute of injury time, to cross to Mackenzie Travis who netted from six yards to seal the sides place in the quarter-finals.
Blues U23’s side: - Oliver Dawson, Jack Dawson (sub Fowler 72 mins), Batho, King, Jordan, Bailey-Dennis, Griggs, Emile Dozzell (sub Petrea 87 mins), Dion Dozzell, Mullis (sub Yaxley 81 mins), Travis.
All the best to Claydon for the rest of the campaign in the Macron SIL Senior Division and have a safe trip home tonight.
